BACHELORS OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (BBA)

Admission to the BBA

Students can be admitted to the Cox School of Business in two ways: by invitation prior to enrolling at SMU as members of the Business Scholars Program or by completing the regular business school admission requirements (normally in the sophomore year).

Business Scholars
Business Scholars are pre-selected for Cox admission based on their application for admission to SMU and academic performance prior to entering SMU. These students are notified of their selection for the Business Scholars Program in spring of their senior year in high school. As Business Scholars, they will participate in the normal SMU/Cox curriculum, but will have the added advantages of early Cox admission, Cox advising, Cox Career Services, and special programs designed exclusively for Business Scholars.

Regular Admission
The majority of business majors enter the Cox School of Business in the spring of their sophomore year, after they have completed the business school admission requirements for current SMU students. Students may be admitted by this method from within SMU, or as transfer students from external institutions.  To be admitted, students must have earned at least 42 academic hours and must meet the specified grade point average in the business subset (a group of seven courses).  For students entering SMU in Fall 2007, the required subset GPA will be 3.30.

For additional information regarding Southern Methodist University's undergraduate admission requirements, regulations, and procedures, contact SMU's Office of Admissions, P.O. Box 296, SMU, Dallas, TX, 75275-0296 or call (214) 768-2058.

Admission to the Minor in Business Administration

Students in the Minor in Business Administration must meet the regular admission requirements by completing the business school admission requirements for current SMU students. Students may be admitted to this minor from within SMU, or as transfer students from external institutions.  To be admitted via this method, students must have earned at least 42 academic hours and must meet the specified grade point average in the business subset (a group of seven courses).  For students entering SMU in Fall 2007, the required subset GPA will be 3.30.  SMU Cox also offers a minor in business which is open to all SMU undergraduate students and does not have GPA based admission requirements.
